{"id":42,"date":"2011-07-19T09:40:21","date_gmt":"2011-07-19T13:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/churchoflaughter.com\/?p=42"},"modified":"2011-07-19T10:02:42","modified_gmt":"2011-07-19T14:02:42","slug":"in-the-land-of-make-believe-%e2%80%93-who-believes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/churchoflaughter.com\/?p=42","title":{"rendered":"In the Land of Make Believe \u2013 Who Believes?"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>The Little Old Lady\r\nstands in the street waiting\r\nas they repossess her shoe\r\n\r\nher welfare\u2019s been cut\r\nher power\u2019s been shut\r\nand she\u2019s lost her children too.\r\n\r\nMr. Jack Spratt\r\nhas learned to eat fat\r\n\u2018cause there\u2019s nothing else on his plate\r\n\r\nhis wife\u2019s not so lean\r\nshe\u2019s strong and she\u2019s mean\r\nwhen he returns from the bar too late.\r\n\r\nAnd Little Jack Horner\r\nstands in the corner\r\nhis eyes are black and blue\r\n\r\nhis mother was mad\r\nnow he\u2019s waiting for Dad\r\nwho\u2019ll make his arms and legs that way too.\r\n\r\nThe Sneeches with stars\r\nmarch through the stores and the bars\r\ndemanding and equal share\r\n\r\nand those Sneeches without\r\nfrom Washington shout\r\nand the military quiet the affair.\r\n\r\nWhile Jack\u2019s up the hill\r\ngiving his all to Jill\r\nhe leaves her with 2 months to decide\r\n\r\nBut she didn\u2019t know\r\nher school couldn\u2019t show\r\nand now there\u2019s a seed growing inside.\r\n\r\nIt\u2019s 20th century make believe\r\neveryone plays \u2013 no one believes\r\nand the Butcher has saved the moon.\r\n\r\nBut when this story is told\r\nand all the children are old\r\nand the make believe has ceased\r\n\r\nThey\u2019ll sit at the table\r\nand dream if they\u2019re able\r\nwhile Mother Goose is the Thanksgiving feast.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Little Old Lady stands in the street waiting as they repossess her shoe her welfare\u2019s been cut her power\u2019s been shut and she\u2019s lost her children too.
